5 Questions With Aimee Mars

Today we would like to introduce you to blogger Aimee Mars! Make sure to check out her blog and visit her Instagram here. 003
1. What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
Just months after my clothing line in New York City came to a screeching halt I found myself happily home with a newborn but desperately seeking a creative side project to call my own. Though it started as a project to obtain control at a time in my life when everything else felt as though it were spinning wildly out of control, I found my site to be a great outlet for defining a fresh direction in life and establishing new dreams.

2. What has been your proudest blogging moment?
I wanted to learn every aspect there was to running a website and blogging so I took it upon myself to design the site, code it, and run it in entirety. My proudest blogging moment was actually figuring out how to code and seeing the site live for the very first time. It’s a moment I get to relive often because every time I want to add a new feature, page or design, it requires more code. I’m still completely stunned it works when I hit publish.

3. What is something you would like to learn more about?
Honestly, I would like to learn more about writing as basic as it may sound. I always want my posts to be elegantly written with my true voice and personality shining through, but also have them be grammatically correct as well. Grammar can sometimes be a challenge to say the least.

4. Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
My family and I moved to Charleston less than 7 months ago from NYC (read: I haven’t completely found my “favorite” spot yet) but in an effort to replace some of our city haunts we’ve been visiting many of the great cafes and quiet wine bars around town. Currently I’d have to rank St. Alban as one of my favorite blogging spots, and I’ll willingly visit many times just to confirm!

5. If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
The blogger I’d most like to grab coffee with at the moment would be Jillian Harris (her blog is also called Jillian Harris). I found her site and Instagram feed, which are topnotch, long before I knew she was the bachelorette or a host on Love It or List It, but I was hooked instantly. She seems extremely warm and friendly and I always love her content as well as how she presents it.

5 Questions With 2 Blondes Banter

Today we are introducing you to one of our newest members, Heather 1/2 of the team behind 2 Blondes Banter! Make sure to check out their blog and visit their Instagram here. 001
1. What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
I’m a newbie! I’ve only been blogging for about 6 weeks. I was inspired to start 2 Blondes Banter after many discussions with my great friend and blog contributor Nadine Camilla. She is a stylist and I am a writer. We’d been bantering for months about how we can work together. Many an idea bounced and fell, but the blog is the one that stuck… and we couldn’t be happier. It’s been incredibly rewarding to express our creativity and live out our passion everyday.

2. What has been your proudest blogging moment?
So far (as we’re new in this space) it’s been the incredible response and great feedback from the lovely women who’ve viewed and followed us. Meeting inspired women everywhere inspires us to be out there, to learn, to do better and to expand our network of amazing people. People inspire people… and it makes us happy to learn from the best!

3. What is something you would like to learn more about?
Personally, Instagram. I didn’t use it before becoming a blogger (I know, I know, I’m so late to the game!) And I’m also inspired by the creativity I see in other bloggers who really know how to stage a photo. Let me add photography to my list.

4. Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
I’m a morning person with a 3 year old daughter. That said, most days I have coffee and sit (in the early mornings) by my bay window and blog it out. But I’ve recently discovered Vintage Coffee Cafe in Mount Pleasant and it’s one of my new favorite places. You can’t help but take a picture of the beautiful swirly lattes that come in these wide teal colored vintage coffee mugs on cute little plates. The cafe takes my imagination to a place and time when people might have once dressed up to go out for coffee with their girlfriends.

5. If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
I’d love to meet Shay Shull of Mix and Match Mama. I’ve been following her for years. While I’m not a food blogger, I find myself referring to her Menu Planning Mondays often for what to make my family for dinner all week. I mean, you get your whole grocery list in one place and her recipes are simple but tasty. Oh, and you don’t need 12 different spices to make a great meal.

5 Questions With Tales of a Southern Rose

1. What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for the past three years. My passion for my faith, artistry, food, fashion, and travel is what inspired me to start blogging. My main reason for blogging has been to share my heart with people. I have always had an overwhelming zest for life and a profound joy that lives within my soul. I want to give people a slice of that by inviting them into my world. With blogging, there is a level of vulnerability that many are afraid to delve into, but that doesn’t scare me. Rather, it makes me more relatable to my readers and hopefully leaves them feeling inspired.

2. What has been your proudest blogging moment?
My proudest blogging moment has been the feedback from my readers. When I have someone comment back on a post that it left them feeling inspired or that it spoke to their heart is what brings me the most joy. It’s affirming in so many ways. That is why I write, why I create, and ultimately why I share. At the end of the day, if I haven’t left my readers feeling joy or inspiration, then I haven’t done my job.

3. What is something you would like to learn more about?
I would like to learn more about brand partnerships or sponsorships.

4. Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
My favorite place to blog is in the Old Village of Mt. Pleasant. I have a special spot where I go to write, brainstorm, pray, and just be, without the frequent interruptions I sometimes experience in the city.

5. If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
If I could grab a coffee with any blogger, it would have to be Lauren Sims. Her posts are encouraging, joy-filled, and trend-driven. Her success hasn’t gone to her head. She has remained humble and true to herself in this industry, and embodies what it means to be a strong and beautiful woman of God, all while looking fashionably fierce. That leaves me truly inspired.

5 Questions With Chocolate & Carrots

Today we’d like to introduce you to food blogger Caroline of Chocolate & Carrots. Read all about her unique path to blogging below and make sure you visit her Instagram for more!001
1. What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
After graduating from the College of Charleston in Applied Mathematics in Computer Science and Discovery Informatics, I was unsuccessful at finding a career that fit my interests. As fate would have it, my husband suggested I start a blog, knowing my love for baking. What started as a way to share my favorite recipes, has become my dream job. It was almost six years ago that I began Chocolate & Carrots and I couldn’t be happier!

2. What has been your proudest blogging moment?
I was beyond proud when I received an opportunity to attend a press trip for Natural Delights Dates. They treated us bloggers so lovely. It was truly a wonderful trip that lead to many good relationships, both in business and friendship.

3. What is something you would like to learn more about?
Videography is the next step for me and my little world of blogging. I love the photography, but I’m interested to see how that grows to videography!

4. Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
Well, having children running around me all day long, allows for blogging in my pajamas in my cozy bed after the crazies have gone to bed. But, if I had the choice of where to blog, I would choose to curl up with a good cup of coffee and sit amongst the oak trees of Randolph Hall.

5. If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
I would love to sit and have a kid free coffee with Natalie from At Home With Natalie. We met at a blogging conference when our sons were babies (with them strapped to bodies at the conference) and had a wonderful time. We’ve both had more children since then. She’s the master at mothering and blogging multitasking and I would love to pick her brain!

5 Questions With Borrowed Heaven

Today we’d like to introduce you to lifestyle blogger Meg of Borrowed Heaven. Make sure you check out her blog and follow along with her Instagram! storyboard001
1. What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
I started blogging a month before I graduated from college to document all of the changes going on in my life. However, I didn’t share my blog with anyone for a good year and a half. Now (almost 5 years later), I like to think I still blog for myself, but I also love sharing my life, recipes, and favorite styles with everyone back in New England (where I’m from) and across the country in this awesome blogging community.

2. What has been your proudest blogging moment?
My proudest blogging moment happens every time people close to me in real life (friends, family, even my mom!) who I didn’t know read my blog, tell me how much they enjoy it.

3. What is something you would like to learn more about?
Photography, for sure! I love blogs with big, eye-catching, and colorful images.

4. Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
Sitting outside at Queen Street Grocery, enjoying a cup of their delicious coffee and a crepe while typing away on my laptop is my perfect afternoon!

5. If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
I desperately want Chungah from Damn Delicious to teach me everything she knows!

Style a Blogger at Beckett Boutique

This past November we were treated to a night out at one of Charleston’s newest and chicest shops, Beckett Boutique. The bloggers sipped on champagne cocktails provided by O&O Hooch and a bevvy of yummy snacks. (Add this mixer to champagne and you won’t be sorry!) For the evening Beckett Boutique hosted a game of “Style a Blogger.” Each blogger chose a name out of a hat and had to style that person with clothing from the boutique. The winner went home with a bracelet from Elizabeth and James and a pair of sunglasses from Le Specs!charleston_blog_society_beckett_boutique_001 charleston_blog_society_beckett_boutique_002 charleston_blog_society_beckett_boutique_003 charleston_blog_society_beckett_boutique_004 charleston_blog_society_beckett_boutique_005 charleston_blog_society_beckett_boutique_006 The lovely ladies of Beckett Boutique charleston_blog_society_beckett_boutique_007 charleston_blog_society_beckett_boutique_008 charleston_blog_society_beckett_boutique_009 charleston_blog_society_beckett_boutique_010 charleston_blog_society_beckett_boutique_011 The Savvier // Fashionately in Love charleston_blog_society_beckett_boutique_012 My Borrowed Heaven // Charleston Shop Curator charleston_blog_society_beckett_boutique_013 Bikini’s & Brunch // The Southern Edge charleston_blog_society_beckett_boutique_014 Pink and Green Moms // Porcelain Shree charleston_blog_society_beckett_boutique_015 charleston_blog_society_beckett_boutique_016

Bloggers at the Barre

This past November the Charleston Blog Society was treated to an after hours private class at Barre Evolution. The barre studio opened their doors to us and introduced our group to the amazingly challenging and strengthening world that is Barre. Barre Evolution might be hands down the friendliest exercise studio you will ever go to. They warmly welcomed all of us bloggers and were beyond patient and excited to help everyone through their first barre experience. The bloggers were treated to goody bags full of sticky socks, Barre Evolution t-shirts, guests passes and coupons for Blend Juice Bar.

We began our night sampling juices from Blend Juice Bar. (My personal favorite was the red, who knew beet juice could be so good?) We then met the owners of Barre Evolution Nancy, Nicole, and our instructor for the night, Teresa. Teresa led us through an hour long class that pushed us to shake and stretch! Trying a new exercise can be intimidating but the Barre Evolution instructors are just so warm that all of us felt completely comfortable during our first experience. So much so that several bloggers signed up for monthly memberships after their first experience. If you see any of us bloggers at the barre make sure you come say hi!

Bloggers Night Out at The Spectator

This past October the Charleston bloggers were treated to a night out at Charleston’s hottest new hotel, The Spectator. Located off of the bustling City Market in downtown Charleston, this hotel has created quite a buzz in town and us bloggers were more than thrilled to check it out! Styled in the spirit of the roaring twenties the hotel features rich tones and buttery materials.

The hotel’s butlers treated us to tours of the sumptuous upstairs suites featuring custom furniture and art from local Charleston artists. Much of the night was spent enjoying The Spectator’s lush bar reminiscent of the Jazz age and jewelry maven Kendra Scott surprised the bloggers by sending everyone home with a pair of new earrings from their collection! Enjoy some images of the night below and if you find yourself at The Spectator make sure you try the Flapper’s Delight! chs_blog_society_001 chs_blog_society_002 chs_blog_society_003 chs_blog_society_004 chs_blog_society_005 chs_blog_society_006 chs_blog_society_007 chs_blog_society_008 chs_blog_society_009 chs_blog_society_010 chs_blog_society_012 chs_blog_society_013 chs_blog_society_014 chs_blog_society_015 chs_blog_society_016 chs_blog_society_017 chs_blog_society_018 chs_blog_society_019 chs_blog_society_020

What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
As of last week, I have been blogging for 2 years!  I initially started to blog so my family could keep up with what’s going on with my life, but then I realized I kept posting projects I was doing around my apartment, so it kinda turned into more of a DIY blog, with a side of lifestyle.

What has been your proudest blogging moment?
Whenever someone comes up to me and says they tried a DIY project, made a recipe, or just liked something I blogged about.  That’s the best feeling for me — that people (other than my family) actually read, and enjoy my blog.

What is something you would like to learn more about?
A lot of my posts end up being what I currently want to learn more about, so it’s pretty all over the place.  Right now watercolor painting, making a wind chime our of oyster shells, and building an outdoor table for our new green egg are at the top of that list!

Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
Ideally, some outdoor bar overlooking the water with a fun cocktail… but the reality is my couch after work, with wine 🙂

If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
LC — like the Laguna Beach alum turned entrepreneur Lauren Conrad.  I’ve always loved her since her days in Laguna, and still love her blog today, plus I bet she’d have some hilarious stories from The Hills.  #teamLC

1. What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
I started this blog as an outlet for my creative energies in February 2015. I have been involved in fashion for almost ten years, but my true passion is styling. I have loved it for as long as I can remember, and am always helping friends, family, or coworkers plan outfits for all types of occasions.  With lots of encouragement from friends, I decided to start Fashionately In Love. I am very new to the blogger world but am excited for the journey.
2. What has been your proudest blogging moment?
With my blog being so new, my proudest moment has been finding the courage to start! It was extremely scary in the beginning figuring out where to begin, how to code and design a website, and putting myself out there for the world to see.
3. What is something you would like to learn more about?
I would love to learn more about affiliate programs and how to get started.
4. Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
I only moved to Charleston 5 months ago, but my favorite spot so far is the Pavilion Bar off East Bay Street.
5. If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
This is a toss up between Rachel Parcell of Pink Peonies and Arielle Noa Charnas of Something Navy. Both of these amazing women have different styles but I adore both of their blogs!
