1. What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for the past three years. My passion for my faith, artistry, food, fashion, and travel is what inspired me to start blogging. My main reason for blogging has been to share my heart with people. I have always had an overwhelming zest for life and a profound joy that lives within my soul. I want to give people a slice of that by inviting them into my world. With blogging, there is a level of vulnerability that many are afraid to delve into, but that doesn’t scare me. Rather, it makes me more relatable to my readers and hopefully leaves them feeling inspired.

2. What has been your proudest blogging moment?
My proudest blogging moment has been the feedback from my readers. When I have someone comment back on a post that it left them feeling inspired or that it spoke to their heart is what brings me the most joy. It’s affirming in so many ways. That is why I write, why I create, and ultimately why I share. At the end of the day, if I haven’t left my readers feeling joy or inspiration, then I haven’t done my job.

3. What is something you would like to learn more about?
I would like to learn more about brand partnerships or sponsorships.

4. Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
My favorite place to blog is in the Old Village of Mt. Pleasant. I have a special spot where I go to write, brainstorm, pray, and just be, without the frequent interruptions I sometimes experience in the city.

5. If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
If I could grab a coffee with any blogger, it would have to be Lauren Sims. Her posts are encouraging, joy-filled, and trend-driven. Her success hasn’t gone to her head. She has remained humble and true to herself in this industry, and embodies what it means to be a strong and beautiful woman of God, all while looking fashionably fierce. That leaves me truly inspired.

5 Questions With Chocolate & Carrots

Today we’d like to introduce you to food blogger Caroline of Chocolate & Carrots. Read all about her unique path to blogging below and make sure you visit her Instagram for more!001
1. What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
After graduating from the College of Charleston in Applied Mathematics in Computer Science and Discovery Informatics, I was unsuccessful at finding a career that fit my interests. As fate would have it, my husband suggested I start a blog, knowing my love for baking. What started as a way to share my favorite recipes, has become my dream job. It was almost six years ago that I began Chocolate & Carrots and I couldn’t be happier!

2. What has been your proudest blogging moment?
I was beyond proud when I received an opportunity to attend a press trip for Natural Delights Dates. They treated us bloggers so lovely. It was truly a wonderful trip that lead to many good relationships, both in business and friendship.

3. What is something you would like to learn more about?
Videography is the next step for me and my little world of blogging. I love the photography, but I’m interested to see how that grows to videography!

4. Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
Well, having children running around me all day long, allows for blogging in my pajamas in my cozy bed after the crazies have gone to bed. But, if I had the choice of where to blog, I would choose to curl up with a good cup of coffee and sit amongst the oak trees of Randolph Hall.

5. If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
I would love to sit and have a kid free coffee with Natalie from At Home With Natalie. We met at a blogging conference when our sons were babies (with them strapped to bodies at the conference) and had a wonderful time. We’ve both had more children since then. She’s the master at mothering and blogging multitasking and I would love to pick her brain!

1. What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
I started blogging a month before I graduated from college to document all of the changes going on in my life. However, I didn’t share my blog with anyone for a good year and a half. Now (almost 5 years later), I like to think I still blog for myself, but I also love sharing my life, recipes, and favorite styles with everyone back in New England (where I’m from) and across the country in this awesome blogging community.

2. What has been your proudest blogging moment?
My proudest blogging moment happens every time people close to me in real life (friends, family, even my mom!) who I didn’t know read my blog, tell me how much they enjoy it.

3. What is something you would like to learn more about?
Photography, for sure! I love blogs with big, eye-catching, and colorful images.

Sitting outside at Queen Street Grocery, enjoying a cup of their delicious coffee and a crepe while typing away on my laptop is my perfect afternoon!

5. If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?

What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
As of last week, I have been blogging for 2 years!  I initially started to blog so my family could keep up with what’s going on with my life, but then I realized I kept posting projects I was doing around my apartment, so it kinda turned into more of a DIY blog, with a side of lifestyle.

What has been your proudest blogging moment?
Whenever someone comes up to me and says they tried a DIY project, made a recipe, or just liked something I blogged about.  That’s the best feeling for me — that people (other than my family) actually read, and enjoy my blog.

What is something you would like to learn more about?
A lot of my posts end up being what I currently want to learn more about, so it’s pretty all over the place.  Right now watercolor painting, making a wind chime our of oyster shells, and building an outdoor table for our new green egg are at the top of that list!

Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
Ideally, some outdoor bar overlooking the water with a fun cocktail… but the reality is my couch after work, with wine 🙂

If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
LC — like the Laguna Beach alum turned entrepreneur Lauren Conrad.  I’ve always loved her since her days in Laguna, and still love her blog today, plus I bet she’d have some hilarious stories from The Hills.  #teamLC

1. What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
I started this blog as an outlet for my creative energies in February 2015. I have been involved in fashion for almost ten years, but my true passion is styling. I have loved it for as long as I can remember, and am always helping friends, family, or coworkers plan outfits for all types of occasions.  With lots of encouragement from friends, I decided to start Fashionately In Love. I am very new to the blogger world but am excited for the journey.
2. What has been your proudest blogging moment?
With my blog being so new, my proudest moment has been finding the courage to start! It was extremely scary in the beginning figuring out where to begin, how to code and design a website, and putting myself out there for the world to see.
3. What is something you would like to learn more about?
I would love to learn more about affiliate programs and how to get started.
4. Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
I only moved to Charleston 5 months ago, but my favorite spot so far is the Pavilion Bar off East Bay Street.
5. If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
This is a toss up between Rachel Parcell of Pink Peonies and Arielle Noa Charnas of Something Navy. Both of these amazing women have different styles but I adore both of their blogs!

5 Questions With The Southern Edge

Today we would like to introduce you to lifestyle blogger Madison of The Southern Edge. Madison’s blog began with her love of all things style and fashion. As she began to travel and experience different cultures, foods and people her blog expanded to include more of what she came to love. A talented blogger Madison has been lucky enough to cover New York and Charleston Fashion Week! Follow along with Madison over on Instagram!IMG_5029

What inspired you to start blogging and how long have you been blogging?
Well, I have always had a very strong interest in style and fashion (so much so that I went to school for it) but I never knew what specific part of the industry I wanted to work in. I have many friends that have blogged for quite some time now, and I have seen the opportunities they’ve been given due to blogging. After seeing their success, I knew that I wanted those same opportunities, and that blogging could help me get there. (And if nothing else, it’s a ton of fun and I get to meet fabulous new people!) I have only been blogging since April! I decided to get serious about it after Charleston Fashion Week.

What has been you proudest blogging moment?
I don’t know if this is lame, but the first time a major retailer liked an instagram photo I got very excited. I also love when local stores regram and retweet my posts…I just think blogging has such great cross-promotion potential, and it’s exciting to see that happening.

What is something you would like to learn more about?
Oh my gosh. Everything. Graphic design, social media marketing, SEO….I could literally go on forever, but those are at the top of my list.

Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
I haven’t found my favorite place in Charleston yet. When I moved in and didn’t have wifi yet, my pool was my office (there was wifi at the pool)…so that’s not too shabby I guess?

If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
Any blogger, from anywhere? Adam Gallagher. He’s incredibly well-dressed, and his posts are always very witty…and seeing as how he’s “blogger-famous” he obviously knows a thing or two about promotion.

5 Questions With Fashion & Fishing

Priscilla runs what may be one of the more unique blogs in The Charleston Blog Society. Her blog Fashion and Fishing is all about creating a wardrobe that is 100% handmade! In a world where it is so easy to just buy everything it is really nice to see a blogger who is trying to be different! Read a bit about her below and make sure you visit her blog for inspiration! IMG_3730
What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for almost three years now and my blog originally started out as a way to keep my family and friends updated on the happenings of my husband Will and I’s life as newlyweds. He being the fisherman, and I being the fashion lover who had just embarked on a new adventure into sewing and creating my own hand made wardrobe. The blog has since taken on a new life and now it’s become a great way for me to make connections within the small but ever growing online sewing community and to also share my sewing creations with whoever is interested in checking them out. But in addition to sewing and fashion, my blog sometimes can get real and I may post about the pros and cons of being married, how we have survived through the ups and downs, struggled with infertility, how life moves on after a miscarriage, and how we find ways to fall back in love over and over again with each other. I can get deep sometimes and then I’m all like “check out this sundress I sewed.”

What has been your proudest blogging moment?
My proudest blogging moment was when I was contacted by Art Gallery Fabrics, one of my favorite fabric companies, to create a dress using 2 yards of knit fabric from one of their latest collections. It was an honor to be chosen for that blog hop but also the perks of getting free swag always makes having a blog that much sweeter 😉

What is something you would like to learn more about?
From a sewing standpoint I really want to start learning how to use my dress form and creating projects from draping versus using patterns. I’m getting there, but I am by no means an expert. On a personal level, I also want to work on my French. My mother is from France and unfortunately when I was growing up I could care less about the language. Ugh, childhood. So even though I understand the language very well, I am still not 100% fluent. I would love to spend some of energy on that.

Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
I am a total night owl so most of my blogging goes down in my sunroom at midnight with Netflix rolling in the background. When I am not at home, I will grab a Snapple and ride my bike out to Sunrise Park on James Island. In the evenings, the dolphins go crazy feeding on fish and I never get tired of the view.

If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
I have currently been stalking Merrick from Merrick’s Art. She has a great style blog but also sews many of her own pieces and at times is a source of inspiration to me. But my real love affair is with Michael from Inspired by Charm. I really think he would be my blogger BFF if he lived in Charleston. #lifegoals

What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?

I’ve been following various fashion blogs for a while and I would catch myself spending hours a day scrolling through my Instagram feed looking at blogger’s insta posts with their #ootd. I’ve always had a love for fashion and I was just chatting with friends about how I would love to blog while on a girls trip to New Orleans. I wasn’t sure that I of all people could do it, but all my friends were so encouraging and they are the reason I started blogging. And I am so thankful they gave me the push I needed to get started. I have been loving every minute! I have only been blogging since the end of March so I still have a lot to learn!

What has been your proudest blogging moment?

My proudest moment isn’t exactly any single moment, but it has been so gratifying when I run into people just out and about around Charleston and they tell me they read my blog. It is always people that I never expected to be readers and they always have the kindest things to say. It always just touches me and pushes me to continue sharing 🙂

What is something you would like to learn more about?

I recently switched my blog over to a self-hosted site and that was pretty challenging for me! Currently, I would love to learn more about SEO and how to properly use it to benefit my blog–> Can you tell I am basically tech illiterate?

Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?

I would probably choose my back patio as my favorite place to blog in the city. I really enjoy sitting in my patio in the morning (with a cup of coffee) or the evening (replace the coffee with a glass of wine!) with my sweet boykin by my side.

If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?

If I could chose any blogger it would probably be Julie Sarinana of Sincerely Jules. I have a total girl crush on her. Did I mention that her hair color was the inspiration for mine right now?! She seriously could not be cuter. I love her style–she chooses very simple, boho looks. Not sure she could be any cooler. Oh and she has her own clothing line of adorable graphic tees!

5 Questions With The Savvier

What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
I had wanted to start a blog for years but I wanted to make sure that my website would be something that I was proud of and happy with the moment that it launched because I think consistency is key. Last summer I began working with the girls at Row Collective, now known as The Royal Wild, and my blog went live in August.

What has been your proudest blogging moment?
I am always excited when someone re-grams or posts my pictures, but the moment I am most proud of is last December when Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle blog, re-grammed one of my photos.

What is something you would like to learn more about?
This list is practically endless, but as a recent college graduate, I would love to learn more about expanding my audience and turning my blog into a career.

Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
While I definitely prefer to sit in my pj’s and blog from home, there are two spots in town I like to go to get some serious work done: St. Alban’s and Black Tap Coffee.

If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
This is easy for me because one of my favorite people in the world is Sarah of What Sarah Knows! We grew up across the street from each other on Church Street and I consider her family, plus her blog is fabulous and it’s always fun to pick her brain.

5 Questions With PorcelainShree

Today we would like to introduce you to Shree the beauty blogger behind PorcelainShree. A new transplant to Charleston from the West Coast at only 24 years-old Shree is taking the beauty world by storm. As a licensed esthetician and makeup artist she certainly has the background to give beauty advice! Read on below to learn a bit more about Shree!IMG_0056

1. What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
I originally started PorcelainShree because I was constantly having friends ask me for tips and tricks on how to do their makeup.  I figured if I could just have one designated place where everyone can go, it would be easier.  I started PorcelainShree in April 2013 and have been enjoying it ever since.

2. What has been your proudest blogging moment?
My biggest blogging moment had to be when brands first started contacting me themselves to review their products.  PorcelainShree is based on complete honesty and I never stray from my morals and values for any brand or any amount of money.  To have someone come to me because they value my opinions and my integrity is one of the best feelings ever-and one that can never be replaced.

3. What is something you would like to learn more about?
I would love to learn more about network marketing.  I feel like I already do a lot of social media managing and branding for myself and my blog, I would really like to eventually go to school and learn the complete ins and outs of it.

4. Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
I would love to sit on a bench and blog somewhere right on the waterfront.  Or even someones steps South of Broad.  Both of those areas are beautiful and I feel like you can really take in the city, the old streets, the history, and really get inspired.

5. If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
Oh, definitely, Sammi from Beautycrush.  I feel like her and I have such similar personalties and she has been in the blogging and YouTube world forever.  If I could just pick her brain for an hour, I think I would learn a lot from her.  And if she brought her Bulldogs that would just be an added bonus 😉
