5 Questions With A Load Of Craft

Today we are introducing you to DIY blogger Megan of A Load of Craft. Read on to learn more about Megan and make sure to visit her blog and Instagram! craft-blogger1. What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
I have always been the type that would rather “diy it than buy it”. If I ever see something in a store that I want, I take a picture of it or even online I take a screenshot of it so I can make it myself later. I swear, probably all the pictures in my phone are for future projects. I started blogging May 2016 so just a few months.

2. What has been your proudest blogging moment?
Finally creating a blog at all! For years I would do my projects and post before and after pictures and everyone around me would say, “You need to start a blog so that we can make that too!!!”

3. What is something you would like to learn more about?
Overall. . . blogging. I’m all about projects and creating things but the website and business side of blogging can be overwhelming and I am completely clueless.

4. Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
If the weather isn’t too hot and humid I love The Waterfront Park, which has WiFi; plus downtown Charleston has so much inspiration. If I’m schvitzing from the heat I go set up at Glazed and feast on bacon apple fritters and iced coffees.

5. If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
Mandi of Vintage Revivals. She is seriously the best DIY blogger, her projects are amazing. I’ve been following her for a few years and she makes moderate carpentry look like it’s nothing. . . . homegirl does not play!

5 Questions With Authentic Stereotypes

Today we are interviewing Stefani of Authentic Stereotypes a beauty and lifestyle blog. Scroll below to read more about Stefani and make sure to check out her blog and Instagram! headshot

1. What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
I was inspired to start blogging when I realized that my friends were always asking me for beauty advice. I spend a lot of time reading beauty blogs and thought it was time for me to give writing one a try. I had run a few other blogs previously, but nothing that I was ever passionate about personally. I’ve been blogging on Authentic Stereotypes for about 8 months now but have written for different blogs for 3 years.

2. What has been your proudest blogging moment?
Launching Authentic Stereotypes. It was great to see something that I had dreamed about for so long finally come to life.

3. What is something you would like to learn more about?
I’d like to learn more about monetizing and marketing my blog. Since this is currently a side-hustle for me at the moment it would be great to get back some of the money I invest into it.

4. Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
I do most of my blogging at home where my favorite place to sit is on my porch, which overlooks the woods. It’s so calm and peaceful!

5. If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
I would love to get coffee with Estee Lalonde. Her blog was the first I ever followed and I really admire how she’s been able to seamlessly transition from beauty to lifestyle blogging.

Today we’d like to introduce you to fashion blogger extraordinaire Ireana Nathan of XOXO, I. Joelle. Read all about Ireana below and make sure to check out more on her blog and Instagram.callivibes

1. What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
My inspiration for blogging is from my love of writing and being able to write about the things I love. When I put the two together it was just magical. I was always very shy and didn’t have much to say growing up. Blogging has become a creative outlet for my voice to be heard and has allowed me to open up and be fearless. I want to be a voice for plus size women locally because there isn’t large number or plus size bloggers locally. I just want to be that someone I needed when I was younger.

I’ve been blogging for the past 3 years and I haven’t looked back since. It has been the best decision that I have made.

2. What has been your proudest blogging moment?
My proudest blogging moment is reaching the point where I am now. I feel that if I would’ve given up and didn’t work hard I wouldn’t have the opportunities that I have now.

3. What is something you would like to learn more about?
As a blogger I would love to learn more about being more creative. I would love to take up a Calligraphy class just for fun. Also a workshop or conference on how to bring revenue to my blog.

4. Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
My all time favorite place to blog is Starbucks, no matter the location. I love the vibe that Starbucks gives off while I’m working and sipping on a White-Chocolate Mocha Frappe.

5. If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
I would grab coffee with Plus Size Blogger & Influencer Gabi of Gabi Fresh. She has been one of my inspirations to

Bloggers Night Out // Candy Shop Vintage

The lovely Dierdre of Candy Shop Vintage recently invited The Charleston Blog Society for a Cinco de Mayo party at her flagship store, Candy Shop on Cannon. The Town Serif created adorable signage for our bar cart while mini pinatas decorated the store. The bloggers were treated to a margarita bar, spicy guacamole, and festive fiesta decor. But the best part of the evening? Everyone went home with a coral Rice Bead necklace. You can’t beat that for Cinco de Mayo! Bloggers Night Out // Arhaus

Arhaus invited our blogging group to experience their brand new Mt. Pleasant store the night before it officially opened to the public! If you haven’t experienced this store yet, I highly suggest you make a trip to the Town Center asap! Each room is decorated in a completely different style and theme that is changed monthly. We were treated to yummy bites from Burtons Grill and enjoyed a tour of the brand new store. Our bloggers thoroughly enjoyed learning about the concepts that go into creating each space and the history behind every piece of furniture in the store. 5 Questions With Charleston Weekender

Today we’d like to introduce you to the super fun and talented blogger Liz Martin of Charleston Weekender. Read all about Liz below and make sure to check out more on her blog and Instagram. liz martin1. What inspired you to start a blog and how long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging since the Fall of 2015 to accompany the small business I started last year. After reading that your life will feel longer the more vivid your memories are of your experiences (in “Moonwalking With Einstein”), I was inspired to start documenting more of my travels as well. Discovering other blogs on Pinterest is usually how I plan what to see when I take a trip, & I would love to offer the same thing to other travelers.

2. What has been your proudest blogging moment?
I coordinated, styled, and wrote an effortless dinner party feature, and Style Me Pretty Living published it this week! (click here) It was very rewarding to be accepted to a national blog that delivers such inspiring content.

3. What is something you would like to learn more about?
I would love to learn more about other cultures, especially through traveling. It is easy to get wrapped up in our happy little American bubble. Partnering with my cousin to import goods from Turkey has been a great reality check. Her life in Istanbul is very similar to mine, except that recent bombings in Turkey have obviously added a new sense of uneasiness to her environment. One such bombing happened near our wool supplier, so now she mainly does our ordering over the phone. Understanding other cultures helps us be more empathetic humans & have a broader understanding of current events. It’s so important to understand the culture around you as well, so I have always wanted to have a broader knowledge of the history of Charleston.

4. Favorite place to sit and blog in the city?
I love going places that allow me to bring along my fur baby, Maddie Martin! Queen Street Grocery is one of the only indoor dog friendly spots I know of, and I really love sitting at the picnic tables at Park Cafe when the weather allows.

5. If you could grab coffee with any blogger who would it be?
I would love to get coffee with Simone from Honey & Fizz. For one thing, I wouldn’t mind going to meet her in a coffee shop in Australia (where she lives). I love her clean and minimalist home decor, & how she makes mundane events like her kids’ snack time extra fabulous. My favorite saying is “it’s all in the presentation” and she always nails it!

Bloggers Night Out // Blend Juice Bar

This Spring we hosted a super yummy night out at Blend Juice Bar in Mt. Pleasant. Blend pulled out all the stops with an array of mini juices and items from their brand new food menu. The bloggers enjoying snacking on healthy treats like avocado toast and energy bites and later in the evening we were given a tour of their brand new food truck. Throughout the night we held a blind taste test of one of their smoothies and the lucky winners, Venita and Louis, took home a one day juice cleanse! Bloggers Night Out // The Gadsden House

This past February the bloggers were treated to a Valentine’s event at The Gadsden House. This was one of our biggest events ever as I created an event space that also doubled as a styled shoot. I wanted to create an inspiring party that was fun, girly, and most of all something the bloggers hadn’t seen before. There’s nothing like creating a beautiful room for a styled shoot and then getting to enjoy all of the decor after!Charleston_Blog_Society_Gadsden_001 Charleston_Blog_Society_Gadsden_002The Gadsden House provided the ideal backdrop for this styled shoot. With it’s French blue walls and gold accents, it is one of the most elegant spaces in Charleston. The Silver Starfish made all of my heart shaped dreams come true with a paper suite that was to die for! Charleston_Blog_Society_Gadsden_003Charleston_Blog_Society_Gadsden_004Charleston_Blog_Society_Gadsden_005Charleston_Blog_Society_Gadsden_006 I surprised the bloggers with a special guest, yoga maven Kathryn Budig. She spoke about remaining true to yourself as your blog and social media presence grows. Her talk was definitely the highlight of the night! I decorated the table with ombre roses and an XO table runner I created using white paint and kraft paper. By keeping the florals simple and sticking to just roses the other decor elements could really shine. Swank Desserts, One Hope Wine and, The Cocktail Bandits provided red and pink snacks and sips for the bloggers to enjoy.
